PSL 606: PUBLIC PARTICIPATION, STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT & CONSENSUS BUILDING
Public participation requires inclusive stakeholder engagement, transparent communication, and structured consensus-building processes that strengthen public trust, enhance accountability, and improve the quality of policy and service delivery outcomes. This program equips Public Participation Officers, County and National Government Officials, Community Engagement Officers, Project Managers, Policy Makers, Communication Professionals, Civil Society Practitioners, Development Partners, and Public Sector Leaders with practical skills to design and facilitate meaningful public participation processes, engage diverse stakeholders, build consensus, and strengthen citizen-centred governance.
Core Objectives:
Public Participation Planning & Stakeholder Engagement: Learn strategies to design inclusive public participation frameworks, identify and engage diverse stakeholders, facilitate meaningful consultations, and strengthen public involvement in policy development, planning, and decision-making.
Communication, Facilitation & Community Dialogue: Acquire skills to facilitate constructive dialogue, manage public forums, communicate effectively with diverse audiences, address stakeholder concerns, and promote transparency throughout engagement processes.
Consensus Building & Conflict Management: Develop approaches to build consensus among stakeholders, manage competing interests, resolve conflicts constructively, and foster collaborative partnerships that support sustainable and widely accepted decisions.
Strategic Participation Monitoring & Governance: Apply techniques to evaluate public participation outcomes, monitor stakeholder engagement effectiveness, strengthen institutional accountability, document engagement processes, and continuously improve participatory governance practices that support responsive public service delivery.
Participants will gain actionable expertise to strengthen public participation, enhance stakeholder engagement, improve consensus-building and conflict resolution, reinforce transparent governance, and deliver inclusive decision-making processes that promote accountability, citizen trust, and sustainable development outcomes.
